Greece has officially secured its position as the top global destination for luxury yacht charters in 2024, according to the latest market data from RIGINOS Yachts. The country leads the international market in motor yacht bookings over 20 meters, maintaining a strong 26% market share—a figure consistent with 2023—and experiencing a significant increase in demand.
Consistent Growth for 2025 Summer Season
Looking ahead to summer 2025, Greece continues its upward trajectory in the luxury yachting industry. As of now, the country already accounts for 40% of all global pre-bookings for motor yachts over 20 meters, reinforcing its leading role in the international charter market.
This remarkable growth reflects the rising international demand for Greek yacht charters, thanks to the country’s breathtaking coastlines, world-class service, and extensive fleet of luxury yachts.
Eastern Mediterranean Remains the Leading Region for Yacht Charter
The overall booking distribution for 2024 remained stable compared to the previous year, with the Eastern Mediterranean retaining its top position globally. The region captured 45% of all annual yacht charter bookings—winter and summer combined—and 51% of summer bookings.
Within this region, Greece ranked No.1, securing 30% of all summer yacht bookings. The country also saw an 8% year-on-year increase in the number of chartered yachts, with over 500 motor yachts selected for private cruises during the 2024 season.
Greece and France Dominate Summer 2024 Charter Season
Despite a slight global slowdown in bookings compared to 2023, the summer 2024 yacht charter season remained robust. Charter activity from May to October 2024 reached 87% of 2023 levels, signaling a return to pre-pandemic market stability.
Throughout this period, Greece and France emerged as the top two destinations, accounting for more than 50% of all summer motor yacht charters.
Charter Trends for 2025: Greece Gains Market Share
Early charter data for 2025 shows an even stronger performance for Greece. The country now holds a dominant 40% share of all global summer bookings for motor yachts over 20 meters—up from 30% the previous year.
The Eastern Mediterranean remains at the heart of global yachting, with Greece (40%), Croatia (22%), and Turkey (7%) collectively holding a 69% share of total summer bookings for 2025
